Investigando la ventaja de jugar como local en las ligas mundiales de fútbol antes y después del brote de covid-19

Resumen

El objetivo de este estudio fue evaluar los efectos del COVID-19 (ausencia de espectadores) en los resultados de los equipos de fútbol de 5 ligas populares del mundo (Premier League inglesa, Serie A italiana, LaLiga española, Bundesliga alemana y Ligue 1 francesa). ). Esta investigación fue descriptiva-comparada. Así, se analizaron los resultados de los equipos de fútbol desde la temporada 2015/16 hasta la mitad de la temporada 2019/20 (antes del COVID) y la continuación de la temporada 2019/20 hasta la temporada 2020/21 (después del COVID). El número de partidos analizados fue de 10.853, incluidos 2.546 después de los partidos de COVID. Las variables analizadas fueron: ventaja de local, ratio de goles marcados (HGSR) y ratio de goles encajados (HGCR) en los partidos de local. Los resultados de la prueba t mostraron una disminución significativa en la ventaja de jugar como local (p=0,044) solo en la Bundesliga alemana. Además, en la EPL, ninguna de las variables mostró una diferencia significativa. En las ligas italiana, alemana y francesa, HGCR aumentó significativamente después de la pandemia de COVID (p<0,04). En la liga española, el HGSR mostró un descenso significativo (p<0,04). En este estudio, solo se examinó la ausencia de espectadores en la ventaja de jugar en casa. Si bien los espectadores pueden influir en los resultados, los equipos aún se desempeñan mejor en casa durante la pandemia de COVID. Por lo tanto, podemos concluir que la ubicación de los eventos puede ser importante. Además, los árbitros pueden estar injustamente sesgados a favor de un lado o del otro por la presencia de multitudes. Por lo tanto, la investigación futura puede examinar otros factores.
