Abstract

Objective: The study aimed to evaluate the internal training load and well-being responses of futsal players during precompetitive and competitive period. Material and Methods: Nineteen male athletes (20.64 ± 3.93 years old) belonging to a professional team were evaluated in the last two weeks of preparatory and the first two weeks of competitive period. In each session, the well-being was measured at the beginning and the internal training load at the end. Comparison between weeks was performed by Repeated Measure ANOVA test and Bonferroni post hoc to detect the differences. Results: A significant increase in the internal training load at week 1 (715.12± 193.20 A.U.) of preparatory period when compared to week 2 (617.83± 223.66 A.U) of the same period (F=5.130; p=0.030). Well-being showed a significant decrease in week 1 (18.56 ± 0.40 A.U.) of the preparatory period compared to week 2 (19.76 ± 2.77 A.U.) of the same period (F=3.853; p=0.015). Therefore, was possible to conclude that the training in the preparatory period (week 1) presented a higher load when compared to the other weeks analysed and this increase was followed by a lower value of total well-being perceived by futsal athletes. Thus, we can infer that the training intensity is inversely relate to the athletes' total well-being responses.
