Abstract

Introduction: The success of a player depends on factors that need to be adapted to the demand of the game such as the technical, tactical, physical, anthropometric and psychological level. Objective: To evaluate and compare the anthropometric profile of players from three categories under 15 of the Chapecoense Football Association (ACF) at the beginning of the season. Materials and Methods: 97 male school children aged between 11 and 15 years participated in this study, divided into three basic categories under 12, under 13 and under 15. The anthropometric variables used for the study were body mass, height, skinfold thickness and bone diameters which followed the ISAK protocol. For data analysis, descriptive statistics (mean, standard deviation and frequencies) and inferential statistics were used. For comparison between groups, the one-way ANOVA test was used followed by Bonferroni post hoc test for variables with normal distribution and Kruskal-Wallis followed by Dunn post hoc test for variables with non-normal distribution. The significance level adopted was p <0,05. Results: the variables of tricipital skin fold, femoral biepicondylum and radioulnar biostiloid bone diameter, body mass, height, BMI, fat mass, lean mass, residual mass and bone mass showed differences between under 12 and under 15 and between under 13 and under 15. Conclusion: in this study it was observed that there are differences in most variables between the categories evaluated and the predominance of higher values occurs in older athletes.
