Analisis of the goals and trend with the Copa América Centenary 2016 football champion team
Abstract
The objective of this study was to quantify and analyze the occurrence of moving ball assists and ball finalizations in the form of goals in order to present the trend with the champion team of the Copa América Centenário 2016 men's football competition. The data were composed of 91 goals scored in 32 games; the goals were analyzed from a campogram. The main venues of the ball-in-the-ball finalizations were goals, the central area of the large area and the small area, both in the overall competition and the champion team. It was also found that the highest percentage of moving ball assists in the competition took place in the central region outside the large area. However, the champion team had higher incidences in the left wing outside the big area and in the left region within the big area. In conclusion, of the two investigated variables, ball finalizations in motion presented the same tendency for the teams in general and the champion, on the other hand, for variable ball assists in movement, it was observed a difference in percentage. Thus, coaches should be aware of the place of origin of the finalizations and of assists of ball in movement that more affect the goals in the football, with intention to establish offensive and defensive actions characterized by the findings of the study.
