Anthropometric profile of u-17 female football athletes
Abstract
The popularity of women football has increased in recent years and currently involves practitioners in around of all the world. Some factors may be of extreme importance for the characterization and a subsequent increase in the performance of these group. The aim of the study was to identify the general anthropometric profile of female athletes of a women soccer team and to describe a second profile, considering the position occupied in the field during the game. Twenty-three sub-17 soccer players participated in the research. In a previously scheduled session, values of age, height, body mass, BMI and percentage of body fat were collected. As a result, goalkeepers were considered to be older in relation to the group (15 ± 1.4 years), with higher scores (162 ± 0.08cm), body mass (59.07 ± 7.44kg) and percentage of body fat (25.23 ± 3.56%). The highest BMI was found in midfield players (22.60 ± 1.90). It is concluded that the anthropometric profile is an important instrument to characterize the athletes of the sport, considering the functions performed in the field of play, and that it can be an important tool to enable a periodization consistent with the demands of each position.
