Abstract

Several studies have investigated the influence of age and practice time on skill performance. The aim was to compare the grassroots futsal player's performance in passing and dribbling tests, as well as to verify the relation with practice time. The sample involved 22 male players Under-9 (n=11, 8,58 ± 0,70 years) and Under-11 (n=11; 10,44 ± 0,50 years) of a Futsal team from Londrina-PR. The Mor-Christian's dribbling and passing test was used, the last adapted for futsal. In the comparison between categories, it was used the Student t Test to compare performance in the passing test and Mann-Whitney U test in dribbling test. Pearson correlation and Spearman correlation were used to associate practice time with passing and dribbling performance (p≤0.05). There were no significant diferences between under-9 and und-11 categories in dribbling (p = 0.217) and pass performance (p = 0.963). There was no correlation between practice time and the performance in the passing test (p=0,610 ; r=-0,115). However, a negative correlation was observed for the dribling test and the practice time, in a moderate intensity (p=0,020 ; rs=-0,491), that is, for these players, more practice time would result in less time to realized the dribbling test. It was concluded that in the analyzed sample, there was an effect of the practice time only on the performance of the dribbling skill.
