Analysis of performance of the brazilian football selection in the 2018 football World Cup
Abstract
Football one of the most popular sports in the world, however, it is still little studied in relation to its technical variables. Knowledge of the events that occur in the match can be another tool in the preparation of a team. The use of scoult, the numerical set of data of a team during a game, has been increasingly used. The objective was to analyze the performance of the Brazilian team in the FIFA 2018 World Cup. It was a quantitative, descriptive, observational and documentary study, in which the 5 games of Brazil were analyzed. The results showed that the team had a better ball possession in 4 out of 5 matches, averaging 55.6%. During the games, the selection changed 2839 passes, 2501 certain, resulting in a 88% use. The findings revealed that Brazil scored 103 times, averaging 20.6 kicks per game, scoring 8 goals in the competition, which represents a low achievement in the finals. The team conceded only 3 goals, having a campaign of 3 victories, 1 tie and 1 defeat. It was concluded that Brazil had a very good advantage of possession of the ball and passes, however, the performance in the finals was poor, since although the team had a high number of finals, it had a low goal average in the competition, the which may have contributed to its early elimination in the competition.
