Women in the world of football: representations
Abstract
The article proposes the historiographical analysis of works that tell the history of Brazilian soccer and that meticulously relegate over the years the participation of women on and off the field. The intention is to bring to the discussion the way women are represented in various scriptures: books, magazines, periodicals, articles and literature in general that deal with the sport of Breton. Currently, almost unanimously, the narratives that conceptualize the Brazilian through football, besides presenting almost always the same story -Charles Miller and his return to Brazil from England - reinforce the idea that football has owner and this owner is the man; usually they portray an environment surrounded by prejudice and social exclusion, which over the years has become a portal to explain the "character" of Brazilians. In this same way of explanation in which soccer "explains everything", one perceives a total exclusion of women when it comes to constructing a narrative of the nation-state through soccer. Through this perception, the article points out some contemporary historical demands: how to understand democracy, gender equity, social integration and the Brazilian nation leaving women out?
