Effects of veisalgia on the performance of amateur field soccer athletes in a municipality of Minas Gerais
Abstract
Introduction: Alcohol consumption by athletes is a hotly debated issue in sports grounds, and a number of elite and / or amateur athletes often drink alcohol in both training and competition periods. Objective: To verify the effects of alcohol intake on amateur soccer players, comparing physical-motor performance with the results of maximal oxygen consumption - VO2max in amateur soccer players, with veisalgia, or popularly referred to as "hangover", through the application of the Yo-Yo Test. Materials and Methods: The research was carried out at the University Campus of the José do Rosário Vellano University - UNIFENAS, located in the city of Alfenas - MG. Twelve amateur soccer players were invited to voluntarily participate in the survey. Two Yo-Yo Test tests were applied for the comparison of each individual, with one of the tests the players were veisalgia, and the maximum oxygen consumption, VO2max, was calculated. Results: In the two tests applied, there was a fall in yield among participants with veisalgia. Conclusion: It can be concluded that the ingestion of alcoholic beverages by amateur soccer players alters the motor physical performance through the Yo-YoTest, reducing the maximum consumption of oxygen- VO2max.
