Incidence of goals by counterattack in World Cup matches
Abstract
Football is the most popular sport in the world. Having as main characteristic the clear dispute between two teams, being able to come across many situations that can interfere in their performance. Counterattack (Ca) defined by Santana and Garcia (2007) as being characterized by the rapid transition from defense to attack. objective to identify in which period the highest incidence of goals occurs, by counterattack from the second phase of the 2010 world cup. This investigation is an observational descriptive study and 16 games of the 2010 world cup were studied. We used descriptive statistics and the results since the round of 16 with a total of 56 counterattacks, 11 of which with goals, with an average of 18%, In the round of 16 there were 34 counterattacks with 09 goals, with the best average of use of 22.18 %, in the quarterfinals we obtained 15 against attacks, with 01 goal with an average of 4.17%, in the semifinal only 02 against attacks and no goal, with an average of 0% of use. In the final phase, we had 05 counter attacks with 01 goal and an average of 8.33%. We can see that the highest incidence of goals was between 30 and 45 minutes of the 1st half with 14 counterattacks, 3 with goals and 11 without success. In the 1st half, the total use was 69% and in the second half, 57%. Compared to other studies that also analyzed in which time the highest incidence of goals occurred, it is contrary to the study of the 2006 World Cup in Germany, which found 46.53% in the first half and 53.47% in the second half. Making it clear that the 2006 study analyzed all goals. It may interfere with the results, when correlated. We concluded that we had a low rate of counterattack in this world cup.
