Analysis of the technical actions of a football goalkeeper: a preliminary study
Abstract
Our objective was to characterize technical actions of a professional soccer goalkeeper and to verify the influence of field command in the incidence of offensive and defensive technical actions. For this, we analyzed a soccer goalkeeper during 20 games of the Paulista Championship of 2011. A total of 650 technical actions were identified with an average of 32.5 actions per game. There was a higher incidence of offensive (59.1%) than defensive (40.9%) technical actions (F=18.560, p<0,001, η²=0.340). The most frequent defensive technical actions were the anticipations, cross defenses, low right defenses and low central defenses. In relation to technical offensive actions, there were predominance of replacements and foot passes. Finally, there was no effect of the field command (F=0.005, p=0.942, η²<0.001) or the interaction between the field command and the technical action type (F=1,925, p=0,174, η²<0,051). From these results, we emphasize the importance of the goalkeepers to improve themselves in the manipulation of the ball with the feet. In addition, the field command does not seem to influence the occurrence of defensive and offensive technical actions.
