The opinion of young footballers about parental involvement in their sports practice
Abstract
Objective: To know the opinion of children on parental involvement. Methods: The sample consists of 203 children soccer players, among the "under 8" and "under 10" levels. The instrument used was an adapted questionnaire of "Parental Involvement Sport Questionnaire" from Lee and Mclean (1997). Results: In children's opinion there is a large parental involvement in their activity. Conclusions: the study demonstrated that there are differences in influence and intervention and encouragement and concern of parents in children sports, among these levels. There are also differences in the encouragement and concern of parents in sports of children and sportsmanship among parents who have high and low educational levels. There are still differences in the influence and involvement of parents in the sports of children and the encouragement and concern with this practice, among parents with and without sports.
