Evaluation of the dissipation of radiant heat in futsal footwear through thermographic analysis
Abstract
The upper component of the shoe can play a important role in heat dissipation that is generated by the increasing temperature of the athlete's foot. The aim of this study was to use the thermography to evaluate radiant heat dissipation in the upper component of a futsal footwear. Four athletes walked in a treadmill during 30 minutes at 5km/h, using a futsal shoes. The thermographic images of the shoe and the foot were taken before and after the walk and in the interval of 5 minutes after the test. The instrument used was a thermal camera Electrophysics, PV320 model. The foot temperature was controlled by a thermo-resistive sensor fixed in the dorso of the foot and in the plantar arch. The thermal imaging results showed an increase of average temperature in the upper region of 5.0°C and an increase in the internal temperature of 7°C. There was agreement on the behavior on temperature observed by the results of thermography and internal temperature. These analyses can provide elements to improve the choice of the footwear material, which can favor the microclimate of the sport shoes and the athlete thermal comfort.
