Relationship between specific skill tests for football in young people with different stages of maturity
Abstract
The fact that biological maturation exerts great impact on the physical aspects of youth football players made much knowledge about this aspect was produced. As a result, few investigations on the technical aspects have been produced in young athletes, leading to a lack of information of this attribute during the athlete's training. The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between different tests of specific skills for football in young athletes with different stages of maturity. The sample consisted of 59 male athletes, aged between 11 and 17 years, divided into two (sub 14 and sub 17) groups according to the stage of maturation. Chronological age was determined centesimally and bone age was assessed by radiography hand and wrist. Six tests of specific skills in football were applied. The results showed for athletes sub 14 group, significant correlations between the tests and CBLR CBLS (r = 0.82; p <0.01) and between CBLS and CBVV (r = 73; p = 0.01) in athletes classified as late. On the other hand, in the sub 17, this event occurred early in athletes, with r values of 0.64 and 0.53 respectively for CBLR CBLS x and x CBLR CBVV (p <0.05) and CBLS and r CBVV = 0.60 (p = 0.02). It is concluded that athletes classified as early in the sub 17 group and late sub 14 showed significant correlation of moderate to high on the tests used as an indicator of specific ability in football.
