Game phases which resulted in goals scored by the Brazilian national football team during the five world cup titles
Abstract
This study aimed to perform an analysis of goals scored by the Brazilian national football team in World Cups that was crowned champion. For this the 79 goals scored during the crowns from 1958, 1962, 1970, 1994 and 2002 were analyzed. To determine the phase of the game where goals were scored, it was necessary to analyze the beginning of a play in which the goal was scored by checking the positioning, movement, possession and the individual and collective actions of the two teams. Three phases of the game were established to identify the stage at which the event occurred goal: offensive phase, offensive transition and goal from set pieces which are the goals from corner, direct and indirect free kick, and a penalty kick and throw in. Unlike some academic teachers who divide the phases of the game in the offensive phase, defensive phase, offensive transition and defensive transition the present study added the call phase of goals from set pieces by understanding it is a time of departure where the behaviors and attitudes of the players come out of what is considered normal. With respect to goals that resulted from throw in is important to note that some of these goals demonstrated stand out performances from the Brazilian players, also showing flaws in the defensive organization of the opposing teams. Greater presences of goals scored in the offensive game phase were detected.
