Evaluation isokinetic of the knee extensor and flexor muscles in futsal female athletes
Abstract
The assessments of muscle strength in isokinetic equipment are used as an indicator of muscle performance in various sports. Futsal is presented as a mode of intermittent character with high functional requirement. Purpose: To evaluate the performance of isokinetic extension and flexion muscles of femalesoccer athletes. Methods: 10 female soccer athletes aged (20.1 ± 3.1 years), body weight (58.6 ± 5.2 kg), height (160.0 ± 5.0 cm) and body mass index (kg.m2 22.8 ± 1.9) performed an isokinetic dynamometer in Ortothron Cybex II isokinetic (concentric / concentric). Were conducted a series of six repetitions at low speed (60 ° / sec) for analysis of the relative torque. And twenty repetitions at high speed (240 ° / sec) for the analysis of power, starting with the dominant side of the lower limb. The Studentt test was applied to evaluate the difference between values obtained by the dominant (MD) and no dominant (ND). Results: No significant difference relative to the extensor torque between MD with ND, but significant between flexors. As it is the power of extension of MD with ND was significant difference, however, is not the same as found for the bending motion. Analyzing the mean difference between bilateral extensors and flexors, the results were normal (<10%). We also found the relationship to normal extensor / flexor MD and ND (50-70%). Conclusion: The results of this study provide reference values of the isokinetic muscle performance, related not only to the ability to generate torque, but the power difference bilateral relationship and flexor / extensor athletes futsal, being important parameters for the assessment and prescription training.
