Morphologic aspects observed in professional male football and futsal athletes
Abstract
Is of extremely importance the utilization of recourses and instruments that measured the physical and morphological condition of athletes. In such a way, the present study proposed as objective to describe the morphological profile of professional male football and futsal athletes, comparing the athletes divided for game position and grouped in its totality. It was evaluated 441 professional male soccer and futsal athletes, with average age band between 18 and 40 years. It was analyzed stature, corporal mass, sum of nine skin folds and somatotype components. It was utilize 5 instruments to measure 15 variables. Among results evidenced that soccer goalkeepers had more values of stature and ectomorphy than futsal goalkeepers, which had more adiposity and endomorphy than soccer goalkeepers. Independently of game position and sportive modality (soccer or futsal), with exception of futsal goalkeepers, the mesomorphy surpasses the others components (endomorphy and ectomorphy), favoring athlete performance. In such a way, it was concluded that morphological characteristics of professional male footbal and futsal athletes cannot be determined of imperative and determinist form. Still, the values obtained for morphological variables are much diversified between game positions and modalities.
