Abstract

The performance of champion teams is a topic of great interest for coaches, trainers, and researchers in the field of football. This study analyzed the performance of these teams throughout the seasons, considering variables such as efficiency, goals scored, goals conceded, the ratio of goals scored to goals conceded, goals scored and conceded at home and away, wins, draws, and losses at home and away. A quantitative analysis of performance data from championship-winning teams in the Brazilian Championship was conducted, using a comprehensive sample from different seasons. Performance indicators were calculated, and a comparison between teams over time was performed. The main results revealed that champion teams consistently demonstrated an efficiency rate above 60%, indicating a balance between offensive and defensive performance. It was also observed that home performance played a significant role in their successes, highlighting the importance of maximizing performance in home games. Furthermore, champion teams exhibited the ability to secure victories as visitors, underscoring the need to adapt to different environments and challenges. Based on the findings, it can be concluded that consistency, a balance between defense and offense, strong home performance, and the ability to achieve results on the road are key factors for the success of Brazilian Championship-winning teams. These conclusions carry important practical implications for coaches and trainers, who should seek specific strategies to bolster home performance, cultivate a competitive mindset away from home, balance defense and offense, and manage the team roster effectively.
