Comparison between functional and resistance training on the physical abilities of futsal players
Abstract
Futsal is a modality that over time has undergone modifications and updates that have made the game increasingly fast and dynamic, forcing physical adaptations and, consequently, training structures. Functional training can be performed only with body weight, being accessible and being able to be performed by projects in which there is little financial structure. Resistance training, on the other hand, can have a cost, where external weights and accessories are needed. In this sense, the present study aimed to compare the effectiveness and applicability of the intervention of functional training (FT) versus resistance training (RT) on performance variables, namely, flexibility, abdominal strength, explosion of lower limbs, agility, speed and endurance and futsal practitioners, at a competitive level, aged between 10 and 13 years. Twenty practitioners were divided into 02 groups: TF (n=10) and TR (n=10). Along with the interventions, both TF and TR groups underwent the same futsal technical/tactical training. Twelve sessions were performed (4 weeks with a weekly frequency of three days), after the training intervention, a significant improvement was found in the variables of resistance (p=0.0173) and flexibility (p=0.0397). Resistance and functional training proved to be equally effective for the physical capacities of resistance and flexibility associated with futsal in practitioners aged 10 to 13 years. Therefore, trainers can choose both trainings according to local specificities.
