In the victory of the system, the spectacularization of football
Abstract
In times of capitalist globalization, the owners of the countryside hold the show. The owners of the ball game make the show. That is, the universalization of football in contemporary days tends to make football a show-practice, mischaracterizing regionalized passions. Even the modernization of stadiums is restricting popular participation. In this way, the sport-spectacle must be understood as a phenomenon of commercialization, that is, a way of practicing sports activities such as football related to consumption. Geographic barriers are broken. In the best structured teams, in particular Europeans, Brazilians, Argentines, Nigerians, Italians, Spaniards, among many others, they set up universal teams, seeking the recognition of consumers with the launched products. Television has a leading role in this process, linked to FIFA.
